Our Family’s Kids on Bikes 2016 Experience
Our Family’s Kids on Bikes 2016 Experience
Kids today are leading an increasingly sedentary lifestyle; they tend to spend more of their time indoors either playing with their gadgets or watching TV. As parents, we want them to lead a more active lifestyle by encouraging them to play outdoor sports and engage in other physical activities.
As for our Elijah, he walks with me within the village in the morning as often as I can. By often, that should mean an average of 3x on weekdays. Or, we’ll bring out his bike and take a few full turn in the neighborhood. During weekends, the little boy, myself and Paulo will go to the “big oval” (as Elijah would call it, yes, the Ultra in Pasig) for some jogging.
I posted about Kids On Bikes weeks ago, did you manage to go, Mommies?
Last March 6, 2017, our family attended the opening of Kids on Bikes 2016 at SM by the Bay. It is the first family-kid centric bike carnival and race competition in the Philippines. A fun way to encourage our kids to be healthy and fit and develop a bond with us parents.
The program started with some warming up from Teacher Regine and Growee’s mascot Gio.
They also invited people from National Biker Association to give the kids helpful tips on riding their bikes safely.
The registration table was opened at 8:30 AM. It’s FREE, you just need to present a carton of Growee 250ml or two cartons of 120ml. If you happen to forgot the cartons or you’re just having some morning stretch with your kids near the venue and decided to join the Kids on Bikes event, don’t worry a booth on the side can help you secure cartons so that you can join this fun-filled race. Participants will be given a sticker/badge and a race kit.
The race kit includes a singlet and a water jug. There’s a water station which you can refill that jug from so that the kids won’t whine due to thirst during the event. 🙂
A trampoline and an inflatable play pen was installed within the venue. Oh Elijah loves these stuff so much. It saved our ears from his crying. We all know that toddlers were impatient, and these two helped us a lot while waiting for the event to start and in betweens.
This was the bike station. Kids can barrow a bike, helmet, and pads.
Our little biker. The Strider Balance Bike fits Elijah perfectly!
And the event started! The first leg was a Fun Ride for 3-5 years old. This is a no-competition fun race for the kids. A family activity where participants are joined by parents or guardians to play and cheer for them.
My boys enjoyed this one. Paulo cheered for Elijah which encouraged the little guy to finish it.
For every race, there’s a facilitator who’ll orient the kids on how to do each race and reminds them about safety.
During breaks, there’s a segment game which sustains the high energy of these kids.
Bike Relay (Family Race) for 6-8 years old. This is a team mini bike race competition where the kid and up to two family members compete with the other teams in a relay type of race.
Main Race – 9-13 years old : This is the major bike competition. The kids will have a friendly competition where kids will race each other to be hailed as the “The Biker Kid Of The Year”.
Missed the fun last March 6, 2017? You and your family can still join the race in the venues below:
March 19 Ayala Alabang Country Club
March 27 UP Diliman Grounds
April 09 SM MOA for the Finale
Be the The Biker Kid of the Year and win this awesome bike set!
In order for our kids to be able to catch up with challenging activities everyday, they need to have the right physical make up – they have to be tall and tough. It’s not enough for them to be just tall, they have to be tough as well with strong bones and strong muscles which they can get from daily intake of Vitamin D!
Make sure that the vitamins you are giving your kids have Vitamin D. Give them Growee! It not only has CGF for maximum height, but also Vitamin D for strong bones and strong muscles. With Growee, kids are not just tall, they’re tough as well.
Growee is available in all leading drugstores nationwide at the following prices: Growee Drops 15mL at P80.49, Growee Syrup 120mL at P146.90, Growee Syrup 250mL at P267.40.
Bide sponsor: Mountain carbon rim
Eyeing to be part of the event this coming March 27. Do we still need to bring a bike and can may boys still join the race and have a fair chance to win? Haha, we want that bike. 🙂
Hi Mommy Berlin!
Just come, bikes are available there for the kids to use but on a first come first serve basis. Come early.
I want that bike for our Elijah too! Too bad he’s to young, the Biker of the Year will just be picked from the 9-13 yo category. 🙁
Join the fun with your family, Mommy! They’ll enjoy it.
