Breast is Best: Hakab Na! 2017
I had a fair share of failed breastfeeding journey with Elijah. Read it here. Right now, with my second child Ella, I can say I am being successful so far. That’s why whenever I have the chance to share about it to friends who ask or those currently have a little one on the way, I gladly share what I know.
No mom-shaming here. If you’re not successful in your breastfeeding journey now (mind you this happened to me too), you just have to prepare more next time. By that, I mean more seminars about it etc. That doesn’t make you less of a mom, Mommy. *virtual hugs*
I am beyond grateful to hospitals or other institutions and organizations in their efforts to normalize breastfeeding through information dissemination. I cannot emphasize this enough: BREAST IS BEAST. Yes, as it implies, there were tons of benefits it could give you especially your baby.
On August 5, 2017 (Saturday), let’s join Hakab Na! 2017. It will be in Smart-Araneta Coliseum Cubao, Quezon City at 8:00 am to 4:00 pm. This is a yearly event hosted by the online support group Breastfeeding Pinays (BFP)– held every August in time for the Philippines’ National Breastfeeding Awareness Month –to send the message that breastfeeding is IMPORTANT and NORMAL.
And in that event is BLO, the Big Latch On. It’s an international activity where mothers will simultaneously breastfeed their babies within 1 minute from different locations around the world at 10:30 am to create a world record. It started in New Zealand for the Women’s Health Action celebration of the Breastfeeding Week in 2005.
Expectant moms are welcome to attend too! This is your chance to learn the benefits and importance of nursing that baby inside your tummy when he’s out soon. You can talk to breastfeeding counselors or shop at the Baby and Kid Fair. Come one, come all!
